The E.P.A. Monterroso Centre, attached to the Ministry of Education of the galician regional government, is located inside the Penitentiary Center of Monterroso (Lugo).



El Centro EPA Monterroso, dependiente de la Consellería de Educación de la Xunta de Galicia, está localizado en el interior del Centro Penitenciario de Monterroso (Lugo).


Being in the national highway 610 between the towns of Guntín and Monterroso, belonging to the province of Lugo. Access output Lugo is performed by the national highway 540, to liaison with the national 610.



Localizado en la carretera nacional 610, entre las poblaciones de Guntín y Monterroso, pertenece a la provincia de Lugo. El acceso desde la ciudad de Lugo se realiza por la carretera nacional 540 hasta enlazar con el desvío de la nacional 610.




The Center E.P.A. Monterroso is responsible for the formal education of the inmates of the Penitentiary Center. His educational supply is very broad. Not only are taught all levels of education to the secondary level, but also there is a great demand for Spanish classes for immigrants, because a high percentage of the population are of different nationalities, with students from over 50 nationalities.











El Centro EPA Monterroso es responsable de la educación reglada de los internos del Centro Penitenciario de Monterroso. Su oferta educativa es muy amplia. No sólo se ofrecen todos los niveles educativos hasta la enseñanza secundaria, sino que existe una gran demanda de clases de Español para extranjeros, ya que un alto porcentaje de la población proviene de diferentes países, con estudiantes de más de 50 nacionalidades.

First meeting in the UK 15th November-22nd November 2009

The first meeting took place in Birmingham, UK where the Discovery of Talents is based .The Spanish and Turkish delegation were represented by they members.

We discuss how people is working on a regular basis to help refugees in Birmingham, Spain and Turkey
The expected impact on project is opening their minds on other new academic and methods from other each organisation; especially we will have new practical techniques.
An enhanced learning experience for participants ,Empowerment and increase in self-esteem of participants ,Opportunities for continuing professional development for staff and Opportunity for staff to share best practice with colleagues from other member states
The expected impact will have experience on carrying out a European project; have new training techniques and materials for further trainings. Have a new curriculum for their future trainings. Is the opportunity to increase the sensitisation of the local community and refugees community, is increasing the awareness on rights of refugees. The society will be aware of the refugees and their difficult living conditions. Institutions will have an experience on project preparation, implementation and evaluation within the framework of refugees at a European level. Supporting the integration of refugees is understood as the process of include them in the institutions and relationships of the host society. The question of integrating refugees into a country is framed primarily at the level of the nation state. Our target group is refugees and migrants and the providing support is the first condition of integration of them


The Training on needs for integration of refugees in Europe

The Training on needs for integration of refugees in Europe is a two year Grundtvig partnership coordinated by the UK organisation “ the Discovery of Talents “ with Three Spanish organisation which are The Adult Centre of Monterroso, the Penitentiary Centre of Monterroso , Equus Zebra Spain and the Turkish organisation SOGUT HALKEGITIM MERKEZI MUDURLUGU
The project is to promote the Education and Development for adults from refugee background mainly and in some cases other adult from non European background through activities in education, culture, intercultural, solidarity, active European citizenship, European cooperation, and promote services thus contributing to civil growth at individual, community and European levels. The participating organisation will carry out training and educational model to understand the social needs for integration of refugees and immigrants during and after this project on long ad short-term. We will share our knowledge and experiences on this issue, and all participating organisation will work locally with others organisation for dissemination project activities.
The project will allow staff sharing experiences and issues of refugees through a dialogue, sharing of good practice, strategic partnership arrangements with learners. This will be developed through a series of meeting. Staff and learners will concentrate on cross integration, ethnicity, identities, gender differences and change, expectations and barriers they are facing and mutual understanding of problems. The material will form the basis of an exhibition which will be shown in the conferences whose participants will include local communities, refugee’s community and staffs working in the refugees sector. The meeting will address the themes from the meeting, address the gender perspective within each of the refugee’s communities and how they may have changed due to the necessities migration has brought which includes finding learning to communities with the indigenous population
